Glade Festival
If you have never been to the Glade Festival in the UK, then you have missed out on one of the truly uniqe British festivals around. Centred around mainly electronic music, it caters for many tastes. You will find, Trance, Psy Trance, Drum and Bass and one of the best Breaks stages at any Festival (Carmaggedon is where you will find us this year). Glade started out at Glastonbury in a little wooded area, I remember seeing Annie Mac there at some point in 2006 and it was a wicked little foresty club area type thing.
One of the best things about any festival is the chance to hear, and see live, lots of new music you wouldn't otherwise hear. This is especially true of Glade and I guarantee that when you read the line up there will be quite a few names you wouldn't have heard of. Whats more they were the winners of 2008 best festival awards and Underworld are headlining this year. What more could you ask for? The reason I like Glade so much is the size. 10,000 people are in attendance, and this means that the festival is large enough to create that festival vibe, but small enough to retain some relative intimacy. We went in 2007 and 2008 and the Breaksday stage was where you would find us quite a lot of the time. Some of the acts from previous years include Pendulum(2008), Dubfire (2008), Freq Nasty(2007, 2008) and Drummatic Twins (2008) to name just a few, but there are loads more and I highly recommend it to any electronic music fan looking for something a bit different. See the press releases we received from Glade below and be sure to check back for any updates.
ORGANISERS SEEK A NEW SITE FOR 2009 & BEYOND!
Winner of Best Dance Festival at UK Festival Awards 2008
After 5 years in the glorious woodland that is the Wasing Estate in Berkshire, the organisers of the Glade festival are currently scouring the country to find a new home for 2009's event and beyond. Due to restrictions set by Berkshire Council the Glade have chosen to look for a new and equally lovely site which will allow them to crank it up properly as, let's face it, a 3 day celebration of electronic music and culture needs to be loud! The date for next year's Glade festival is Thursday 16th - Sunday 19th July 2009. So far the organisers have viewed several sites nationwide and are drawing up a short list of suitable locations. Their main objective is to find a space that is as appealing as Wasing Estate, with great transport links, less restrictions on noise, and of course, be able to accommodate those July dates! "Wasing has been a great home for us for our first five years, but as part of the natural evolution of Glade we have decided to find another beautiful bit of England, in particular somewhere where we can run it later on all nights including Sunday and make some proper noise!" Nick Ladd, Glade Festival In addition to a new site, the Glade will be introducing some stomping new areas for 2009 which will be revealed at a later date. Line-up confirmations will also be announced early next year. Fear not, as favourites such as Overkill, Origin and the Breaks Tent will continue to remain as part of the Glade... That's all we're saying for now!
Another element of the Glade that will remain the same is the ticket price. In a move to help the recession blues tickets are on sale now for a very reasonable £125 (which is the same as last year). The Glade is also running a Student Initiative for a limited period only where students can buy tickets for a mere £99 from now until 31st January 2009. All tickets are exclusively available from G Tickets: https://www.gtickets.co.uk/. Free on-site camping is included in the price. Camper & caravan tickets cost an additional £45. The Glade won Best Dance Festival at this year's UK Festival Awards and is a 10,000 capacity event, visited by dance music and free spirited aficionados from around the world. The Glade is known as one of Europe's best underground electronic festivals and will celebrate its 6th birthday in 2009 after starting life as part of Glastonbury festival (of which it is still a part of).

After the big response to the £100 student ticket offer, the offer has been extended to the end of March. ‘We know a lot of students are skint at the moment and so we are making it as cheap as we can for them to come to Glade Festival this year - recession or not, you still gotta have a good time.'
