Reuben Keeney - Saxophone - Spinout Records

Released on Monday 13th June, a brand new track on Spinout records. This time by Donegal boy, Reuben Keeney. Reuben is new to Spinout but not to producing dance music.

He recently won best new artist in the Irish Dance Music Awards and has remixed for Global Underground, CR2, Saved Records and of course now boasting a new release on Spinout records. All quite remarkable when you consider Reuben is 16 years old.

Driven by a passion for electronic music in its more pure form, combined with an unhealthy obsession with the modern technology from where such music stems have resulted in fledging Letterkenny boy, Reuben Keeney’s swift ascent to credibility within the European House and Techno Fraternity.

With support of his tracks coming from esteemed underground artists such as Oliver Huntemann, Stephen Bodzin and Martin Eyerer right through to mainstream support from the likes of Judge Jules and Annie Mac, it seems his star is set to rise further.

Reuben defied the usual gimmicks associated with being in the position of a young DJ, indeed performing sets at the World’s most esteemed clubs, such as the hedonistic Ibizan sonforia, Amnesia, as well as playing gigs for brands such as Cream and Eden.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Reuben is constantly in the studio, firing on all cylinders, with upcoming releases on the Fergie-supported label, Monu Digital, as well as maintaining a healthy fanbase through his weekly ‘Localized Sounds’ radio show, on the internationally acclaimed DI.FM.(bio from his myspace)

We really like the original mix and a nice minimal sound awaits. Sparsely populated with the title instrument heavily reverbed and flowing nicely over the galloping beats, a tidy little track. Paulo Mojo's Tech House take on the track is our favourite though. A big room remix that delivers a more solid, percussive rhythm. The third version by Digital:Punks takes you on a more relaxed journey, just perfect for those lazy days of recovery on the beach. All in all a nice trio of beats and another example why this guy is one to watch in the future.

DJ support for this release has come from some big players including:

Jim Rivers (Global Underground), Anil Chawla (Global Underground), Adam Shaw (Mau5trap/Toolroom), Funkagenda (Toolroom), Martijn Ten Velden,Tom Findaly (Groove Armada) and many more.
